You! Felicia Chin! 你这个‘臭阿莲’！ 你真有够狠喽！好一个恨角色！ I just watched the first 4 episodes of the new drama ‘添丁发财 Baby Bonus’ and you have transformed successfully into the likeable 臭阿莲. An average actress would have played it bland like a 臭阿莲 – annoying and irritating but you have made her likeable instead – 演技明显更上一层楼喔。。。
Next to that 15 months old 神奇 Baby 扬扬 (more about him later), you did not loose out to him in becoming a ‘scene-killer’. Never knew you have that 莲 DNA in you…haha…
This is the kind of a performance in a drama I feel would be one to impress the viewers (even changing those who ever doubted you) and the ultimate judges…yes the judges at Star Awards 2010.
Your role is being described on paper as a 化妆柜台小姐，兼职模特儿，七月跟妈妈一起跑歌台。好玩爱闹，有小聪明，爱慕虚荣，牙尖嘴利，出言不逊, 小辣妹一个, 未婚先孕, 视孩子为包袱 blah blah blah…
Colleagues who have seen it also felt you got the role moving in the right attention – it is really not an easy task for any actress to play this role well and not ended up becoming irritating.
红星大奖的‘公主杀手’? I personally think you have a good chance of scoring it big this time round…you already played it well without relying on any over-the-top scene-stealer settings like being tortured or becoming ‘xiao’ in ‘The Ultimatum’.
I am not implying that such scenes are easy to play but you have just proved to naysayers that you could still excel in a simple role without those ‘bells and whistles’ and worthy of a Best Actress nomination. Other Princesses will have an uphill task to beat you for your efforts in this drama…
A blockbuster naturally gets all the attention but sometimes a small 小品 product like this may become a surprise hit. It’s a simple 20 episodes 趣味温馨家庭剧 script with likeable characters – Tay Ping Hui as a 忠厚老实人 (read more on the new and dumb-dumb TPH: http://www.xin.sg/article.php?article=31941&st=dtl) and Xiang Yun as a 风骚歌台歌手 are some of the other likeable roles in the dame drama. Others 有林梅娇，刘芷绚，朱厚任， 林明伦， 洪乙心还有客串演出的杨伟烈（人家要读书吗）。I already can’t wait for the other episodes to watch them first…haha…
I have many things to share about the 神奇 Baby 扬扬 and other stars…soon after my press conference next Wednesday… ‘添丁发财 Baby Bonus’ will debut on Channel 8 at 9pm on 30 September. Main theme song 靠近 is sung by 刘慧祺 and sub-theme song 给幸福一点时间 is by 杨伟烈 and 我的爱人 by 向云.
