Felicia Chin soaps up for a raunchy car wash

SINGAPORE: "The car wash scene?" asked Felicia Chin absently when I quizzed her about a scene in her upcoming sports drama "No Limits", one that was rumoured to be pretty raunchy.

It was also a scene with her in it.

"It was like something you see in an MTV! There's cat calls and men looking at you, with beautiful sports cars, and you wearing so little ... washing the cars."

"I don't blame people for thinking too much. All the women were wearing very 'ideal clothes' (read: not very much at all) for the scene."

Was that how the title came about? "No Limits"?

Noting that it looked like a scene right off the pages of men's magazine FHM, the 26-year-old quipped that the writers must have done a lot of 'research' to get the scene looking like it did.

"I'm supposed to do some sexy moves for the scene. But [in the show] my character can't dance very well, so don't expect too huo la (hot) stuff from me," she said as she cracked up.

While it sounds like a shrewd move to guarantee high ratings (I think it probably will), Chin explained that the skin-baring scene actually served to flesh out her character.

The bubbly actress plays an aspiring competitive swimmer with the kindest heart, who would do anything to help the people she loves, including lathering up a sports car to help out her squeeze.

Sure it's not because she lost a bet in the show? The last time that happened was in 2004's "The Champion" and she was running in a bikini down Orchard Road.

"It's not because of a bet!" she said as she broke into laughter.

"It was really [about] her wanting to help the special guy in her life and this is the only thing she could do for him at that time," she said.

Chin's screen persona is stuck in a love triangle with Elvin Ng's sunny sailing instructor character and Dai Yang Tian's brooding cellist. So who will be the 'special guy' she mentioned?

Prince Brooding

While viewers will have to catch the show to find out who she ends up with, those of you who want to know which guy Chin would actually date in real life are in luck.

"I'd pick the moody broody kind," she said, giggling like a schoolgirl.

How odd. Why would Chin, who describes herself as "an athletic person" who "loved sports", pick a guy that would probably prefer to stay indoors and play his instrument than go jogging with her?

"I guess opposites attract ... that's something that is even more special to the relationship," she announced. "Music appeals to me in a different way."

"I actually like to exercise alone because I feel it is a good break whereby you can have more time for yourself ... be more in tune with yourself. I think everyone needs that.

"Sometimes you need a few personal moments."

So has she found her Prince Brooding?

Obviously, she can't be wanting for choice, men must be breaking down her door to date the pixie-faced actress!

"The only time I get to romance is in the drama," she sighed. "My door is still intact, very intact."

I commented that she must have really high standards to keep the riff raff out of her life, and she agreed.

"I have very strong doors," she said with a knowing nod.

"But I guess if you have the key you can open it anytime," said Chin with a wry smile.

"No Limits" debuts July 1, weekdays at 9pm, on Channel 8.
